designing A company W E B SiTE~

written on 2/7/11 (by me)
Start out with asking (your client)....what is it you want to show to the visitor? Who do you want to market for and why?

Let then do the talking...you ask the questions...and make them describe in as much detail as you can pull out of then. The more you know the easier it might be on your end of the designing process.

Make a plan of action, tell them what you are going to start out designing and then tell them how many times your going to have them approve of it. After that number..you may need to charge extra based on what you agree on from the beginning. Otherwise you could be editing there site as long as you live.

Next develop an idea (or several)...this is the first step and most important. It takes the longest but is crucial to the following of the rest ...proceeding steps. You have to go through several ideas in order to really like the final one you end up liking. And it actually may be the first design you do..but you will never know if you don't.  .. do this. . please do... all you designers out there (:

Next develop an idea, a look, a style...and don't go too far into the designing but just enough so that the client can see the whole picture of what is being created or designed for them. Show them this and get feed back. From this point you can either continue on the same track or have to step back.  Based on what they say, recreate a new edited look.
Set your limits in the middle of the road. Don't say you can do it all...or nothing at all. Be picky to a point. The fine line. Stay on it and don't fall off!

~finally show them something they like
~someting the would be suprised to like
~and one that is in-between.

but never show them one you personally do not like.

From here ..you have to do what you think is best and you are on your own!

Goodluck!

Thanks for reading....this is just one designer girl's opinion...
I don't ask you to agree or disagree...I ask you to form your own onion and just listen to mine.
thx...take care and be safe.
(when I re-read this...I believe these ideas can also apply to life...because for me business is not my life, I enjoy what I do but I wouldn't always call it business...I try to stay on a more personal level and not let things go uncared for. . . I don't want to be
Anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do
Is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking 'round rooms
Wondering what I've got to do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't want to be anything other than me...I hope you feel the same about your life)
